Metamora’s Horse & Carriage Holiday Parade — December 7, 2025 | 2 PM

Here We Come A-Wassailing!

Every December, the heart of Metamora transforms into a storybook holiday scene as horses clip-clop through the village for one of Michigan’s most beloved winter traditions — the Wassailing Horse & Carriage Parade. Hosted by the Metamora Area Chamber of Commerce, this all-horse parade celebrates the centuries-old English custom of wassailing — toasting good health and spreading cheer through song, friendship, and festivity.

Here in Metamora, we do it the equestrian way — with no fire engines, no motorcycles, no loud sirens — just horses. From elegant carriages and festive riders to ponies dressed in jingling bells, it’s a celebration that captures the timeless magic of Christmas in a small town.

Warm Up at Metamora General

Whether you’re waiting for the parade to begin or winding down afterward, Metamora General is the perfect place to cozy up and get into the spirit of the season.

Sip on a hot chocolate, latte, or coffee while you browse the shop’s festive displays — brimming with holiday décor, candles, ornaments, books, and thoughtful gifts for everyone on your list. From handcrafted keepsakes to locally made treasures, you’ll find something special that embodies the warmth and charm of a Michigan Christmas.

A Tradition of Community and Cheer

“Wassail” may once have meant a hearty drink shared among friends, but here, it’s come to symbolize something even greater — a celebration of community, goodwill, and tradition. As the horses parade past the twinkling lights and historic buildings, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of nostalgia and connection to the simpler joys of the season.

So mark your calendars, bundle up, and join us in downtown Metamora on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 2 PM. Come for the parade, stay for the shopping, and make a day of it right here in the heart of horse country.
